To be honest J.P. I have no idea as I don't know how many there are. I had a quick look in my garden this morning as we had a lot of rain overnight and that usually brings them out but couldn't find any. The hedgehogs must be doing their job.

| | | re: Slug or snail of the day I can't believe that this thread hasn't caught up with "bird of the day" yet!
I'm back to the slug I started with, good old Arion ater...
Just a baby one, under an inch long, and very lucky not to get trodden on. He was a whisker away from someone's shoe when I first spotted him.
There were a few brown-lipped snails down at Crossness this morning too. The rain brought them all out...

| | | re: Slug or snail of the day Arion ater again today at Thursley Common...
He was crossing one of the sandy paths which I would have thought was rather uncomfortable for him.
For some reason I got some very funny looks from the couple who passed me while I was lying full stretch on the ground taking this photo. It was almost as if they'd never seen anyone photographing slugs before!

| | | re: Slug or snail of the day I never kill slugs or snails. I quite often put food out for hedehogs and on this night the hedgehog didn't turn up so the slugs had a party with a snail as guest of honour. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ar...slug_party.jpg |
