| | newly emerged bee-fly found this Bombilius major on a piece of grass, hardly moving at all, which i thought was odd until i spotted, sticking out of a hole in the ground only a few millimetres away, the larval case it had just emerged from
this gave me a great opportunity to photograph it, and i managed to fish the empty larval case out, and i've got some photos with it at home
here is the fly:
and here is the larval case (the image is made of 5 photos stacked in CZM ): |

| | | Re: newly emerged bee-fly it is a very good piece of software, but stacking is only useful when you are using a tripod, and you have time to take several photos, but when you do it's great
(just google 'combine ZM' and you'll get it ) |

| | | Re: newly emerged bee-fly Thanks squishy, I've downloaded it for possible future use. Even using a tripod can be tricky, unless the thing is bolted down or you use a remote. All of my shots are hand held, but there might be occasions where I can use a tripod. |

| | | Re: newly emerged bee-fly its worth doing it with even just two shots sometimes . it does aline them to each other, though you get funny bits on the edges to crop off, so a little variation is ok |
