| |  small black lady bird shaped beetle with grey marks
I found some small (about 4 mm long) black beetles in my house, that are the same shape as lady birds but smaller, and have light grey marks on their wings. The marks are bit like spots, but almost joined into lines. Some were on a wooden window sill, most of them dead. I've got rid of most of them, but still find one or two quite often (not dead ones). Any idea what they could be, and are they harmful? I looked at all the pictures I could find online, but couldn't find any that look like them.  I tried taking a photo, but all I got was a blurred black dot, so I didn't think there was any point in uploading it. I would be very grateful if anyone might know what they are.

look up carpet beetle usually turns out to be this or book beetle do a quick search let us know
