This strange bug has been hanging around my house for a while. I saw it first when I was about to have a shower and it came off the nozel and landed on my neck, and then a few days later a smaller one landed on my dad's neck and, I'm pretty sure, according to the way its body twisted, it was strying to sting him. I'm worried because someone in my estate was stung by something similiar and she swelled up and had to be taken to the hospital. I haven't got a picture of it but I can give as best a description as I can, although to start off try and picture a large flying ant and add the below details, although as it was flying around we hardly noticed it and assumed it to be another daddy long legs or horse fly ...
If anything sounds familiar can you please post a picture of what you think it might be so I can compare.
About 3 1/4 of an inch long.
Two clear wings.
Large black eyes/ close together.
Tale turned scorpion shaped when it landed on neck, but was straight when flying.
Transparent sting on end like two pieces of thread forming arrow shape.
Head similiar to a mantis, had small legs on front, almost mantis like too.
Two long (for its size) antennas on head.
When dieing its tale started to pulse and, we're not really sure, but we think its sting became larger after.
Stuck on really tight onto dad's neck even when hit with a towel, then stuck on really tight to the towel when we hit it against the floor.
Hit it many times with a steel object but it didnt die, didnt die even after landing in the sink and getting flushed by water, kept flying too.
And unlike when you attack a fly or a common bug it didnt just fly around, but acted like it was hiding from us, and occasionally flew at us aggresively.
The first one I saw was larger and its sting much more noticable.
