Exclamation My aphid studies
Hi all,

With, not really that many 'big' inverts around as yet, since December I've been focusing on aphids which have been active even with snow down! I thought you may be interested/able to help...

Skin Shedding
Up until now I'd always assumed these skins were 'whitefly' or something, but dead or sucked dry by ladybirds, etc. Since this photo I now recognise them to be aphid's shedded skins!

Try as I might, I just can't name this yellow-black aphid... anyone else?

Aphidius colemanii?
I discovered him yesterday...

Oat aphid or parasitised?
It looks bloated...

All found in my garden. Quite interesting to observe, even tough they can be 'pests'.
