Nope: British Bugs is obviously discriminately "targeted" by some external linking filter. IMHO that is ... well ... properly "silly"
This is no doubt the best English language reference on the internet for "Bugs" in Britain. If it is being linked to abundantly from threads in the forums than the reason obviously is not(!) "spam" but the mere fact that it's an almost indispensable reference for anyone asking questions about "Bugs" and extremely useful to link to for comparison and further reading.
The fact that the maintainers of the site are also active members here doesn't change that fact one bit - we should be rather thankful that they are spending their time here to help people out with their knowledge, but no ... apparently "we" need to single out their fine site and block linking to it.
What's the point of "participating" in the World Wide Web (WWW . wildaboutwhatewever) if you intend to destroy the very fabric that weaves the web ( L I N K I N G ).
Sorry, I can appreciate filtering out blatant spam, but this is xexexexexe. Arp

| Okay - cross reference
Hope it's just a configuration glitch

Sorry, I can appreciate filtering out blatant spam, but this is xexexexexe. Arp | There is no technical issue, the site has been blocked. Unfortunately, the moderators feel that too many links have been posted and although these have all been in relevant threads, it is still considered to be 'spamming'.
So Arp please do not take up the issue with StuartDH, I have corresponded with him about this (and other issues) quite enough and do not wish to reopen the debate and face further accusation
Cheers

Frankly, I'm a tad surprised you guys are still here with such treatment
Personally I think there's way to much oppression going on here, so I'm seriously reconsidering my participation. Not a great loss in my case I'm sure, and obviously the British have gotten much more used to "the forces that be" monitoring and controlling all aspects of live (video cams on every street corner and all that), but I'm still having 'issues' with giving in to too much 1984-ish stuff - probably wouldn't be able to keep myself from "ranting" about that frequently, which wouldn't make for good WAB-citizenship anyway.
So bye to all for now & thanks for all the fish!

| | | Re: Another cluster of unidentified tinkers I've obvioulsy not been paying attention here, as it's the first I've heard of it. Obviously I'm somewhat taken aback as well, but Stuart of course has the right to block any site he feels is being overused - these are his forums, after all. WAB always has had unusually strict rules about links, and it's still a thriving community, so the system obviously works. I guess if I need to post a link about a bug species, I'll have to advertise our "competitors" instead!
Don't go, Arp - that won't help anyone. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
