Bees

Does anyone on here keep Bees?

I'm interested in keeping some bees, not sure which ones yet maybe Honey Bees. Any advice is welcome

You need to chat with Hedera. Bees have been in her family for years. Honey bees are the best bet although some like to attract bumblebees and solitary bees to their gardens by providing nesting habitat.

I have kept them in the past but found it difficult to overcome varroa, a mite that despite treatment, decimated my single hive.

Recommend joining your local bee keeping association where there will be loads of folk willing to help you and perhaps set you up with a nucleus and maybe point you in the right direction with cheap or even donated equipment.

New stuff is expensive and like all livestock keeping, good husbandry is absolutley essential.
