As DH suggests look at wood which isn't obvious - beetles can't get out of well-painted wood so look underneath windowsills, furniture, in the loft or cellar - wooden floors are an obvious location but you might find it easiest to go into the cellar (if you have one) to look for exit holes. Remember, where you see them is not necessarily where hey are living!
Good luck. |

I'm really grateful for everyone's replies and help
I have now uploaded a picture of the beetle from above - Jason - and one when it was on its back. Hopefully these pics will shed some light!
Thanks Paul and DH, I had thought that initially and will def have a look further afield for holes |

| | | Re: Help! - Beetles in the bedroom! Sorry, can you get another pic of the one with markings, please? Lets hope a majority of your beetles are VCBs instead of A. punctatum as I believe they're less damaging... I must learn more of this area!

| | | Re: Help! - Beetles in the bedroom! Yes, it's not impossible that you have two (three, four ... ) different beetles but even if you do have carpet beetles they are not a big problem - woodworm can be so get that dealt with first! Quote:

Hi Jason,
Just took this pic of the one with markings. This is the first I've seen with such markings though.
You are very knowledgeable, as is everyone on this site....is this a hobbie or work for you guys? If you don't mind me asking.. |

Yep, certainly is a varied carpet beetle, A. verbasci.
Which of the two form the majority now they're seperated?
For me it's what I would call an all-encompassing hobby!! |

| | | Re: Help! - Beetles in the bedroom! That is the only one i have seen with markings. The rest are the plain brown ones in my earlier pictures. Of the latter I have found 5 yesterday and another 4 today. They seem to come out in the evening. I have not seen them anywhere else in the house |
