| | | I've never tried photographing one of these but I do have loads of experience with photographing grasshoppers & boy can they jump!
My best advice is to photograph it on the outer limit of your macro focus or use the telephoto function instead, doing this you are much less likely to get too close and disturb it, have the camera set to its maximum resolution then you should be able to zoom in & crop with your software to achieve the desired image.
I can't promise it will work first time, but stick with it as its a technique you can apply to anything that is camera shy. |

| | I think your best bet would also be to get an old fish tank with the bottom taken out so that you can at least keep him confined to one area whilst your taking your pics |
