i.d. this lava?
Hi folks, just had a very quick dip and noticed a mosquito(?) lava swiming in the water - but this one was quite different!

Never seen this before has anyone any ideas?



I just want to confirm - it was quite dark but had a distinctive sky-blue stripe as above - I would say that the piccy is quite representative - if a little blurry! Sorry about that!

Looks like a face-hugger (film Alien) was it that blue to the eye?

Yes that piccie is spot on with the blue! It looked white when I initially saw the thing from 5 feet away, but as I got closer I could see it was actually quite blue.
As far as mozzie lava is concerned - they all might as well be face huggers to me I HATE the things with passion - I think I really have a phobia with them, which can be a problem when I am pond dipping!
I am actually quite interested as to what I have found here, is there an expert I can contact regarding mosquito's and other midges?
