| | | Megachile or Osmia sp.? Hi, yet again.
I saw the pic of Megachile ligniseca on BWARS and this looked sort of like it. Then as I uploaded them I started to think maybe it was another Osmia. The wings look tinted too so maybe it's neither, Halictus rubicundus male without the stripes came to mind! I found a pic of a male with legs that look like this but it had stripes. I'm trying.

| | | Re: Megachile or Osmia sp.? Its a Halictine female - probably Lasioglossum. It has pollen collecting hairs on the hind legs which would rule out all the Megachile, Osmia group (which collect pollen on the undersides of their abdomens) |

| | | Re: Megachile or Osmia sp.? Thanks Stuart, if it's a female that would definitely rule out Megachile, and as you mention also Osmia. The leg hairs on small bees are not so easy to tell if they are pollen baskets or not, but I did wonder.
Halictine female - probably Lasioglossum it is then. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
