| | | More Woodlice. A selection of woodlice found today,
I think that they are:
top row - left, Porcellio scaber, right, uncertain
middle row - left uncertain, right, Oniscus asellus
bottom row - left, Oniscus asellus, right, uncertain.
All were in the size range 5 - 8mm except the middle row, left specimen which was 3mm

| | | Re: More Woodlice. Hi Steve,
Great to see more of these!
I'm going for top right and middle left: Philoscia muscorum, the pleon is sharply marked off.
All the rest I think Porcellio scaber, with exception to the bottom right. It looks to have 3 sections to the end of the entennae where P. scaber has 2. The pleon on the bottom right one doesn't quite look to be sharply marked off from the pereion either. It doesn't look shiny enough for Oniscus asellus and I can't see a long pointed telson, although it could have one. So no ideas on that one!
Now see how wrong I am, lol!

Good job, both of you, for images and ID attempts!
Just lost an answer I had spent the better part of an hour on. Second time this happens and it's certainly a system flaw imho. Bit bummed now, so I'll just keep it short and try again later tonight.
TL Porcellio scaber adult
TR Philoscia muscorum adult
ML Trichoniscidae adult, probably Trichoniscus pusillus/provisorius
MR Oniscus asellus adult
BR Oniscus asellus adult
BR Oniscus asellus juvenile
Explanation rewrite later .... Arp
P.S. More Oniscus juveniles: |

Hi Arp,
Thanks for the reply.
How infuriating for you I really appreciate the time, effort and knowledge you put into your answers here and to have it disappear into the ether must be highly irritating.
I am quite pleased to have got 4 species, even if I could only ID two, on a first (brief - the weather here is foul) attempt.
I'm sure that I have seen Androniscus dentiger and at least one of the pill species here as well.
Cheers
