Hi!
Please help me in identifying this beetle. Picture taken at around 6:30 A.M. It cant fly, is extremely shy, during the day hides beneath the leaves and trots along slowly.

Hi Dot,
its a shield bug, but which one I dont know - there are a lot, all very pretty, but yours is outstanding! 
No doubt others will know exactly, but if not, try googling, it should work with such clear markings!

It's not a beetle but a true bug (Hemiptera: Heteroptera). I don't recognise it offhand but could you say where it was found? Roughly. |

Looks like it could belong to the Scutelleridae; non-British of course, but I've no idea where they come from. |

Looks a tad like Chrysocoris stolli known from India etc, but no idea of it's distribution, nor about possible lookalikes

Oxycera: I agree 100%. Scutelleridae sp. I'd have to say!! I've Googled Scutiphora pedicellata ( I know I know, I always do things the technical way ) and came across this little beauty. You can discount it, but you'll see the similarities... Hemiptera > Scutelleridae > Calidea sp.?
Here's Why: - Correct alignment of spots'
- Ridge on head, shape of pronotum,
- Ridge on upper 'abdomen' behind pronotum
I guess it'll be of African or Australian descent...

Got to be somewhere else in the world. Original poster states that image was taken at about 6 am, but there's no way it's that light over here at that time  |

I came across one like this on Treknature, taken in India called a Jewel Bug.
Try Scutellera nobilis 
Back to both it seems! One link on Wiki shows it as Chrysocoris stolli, and a search for Scutellera nobilis brings up the same pics but they are not accessible.
