| | | Two Psyllids for identification Stockgrove Country Park, Beds, 15th December.
This first one looks very much like the species I posted on 7th December (taken 6th December) that was identified as possibly Trioza remota - see this forum thread: Unidentified winged insect
The first pic is the new image taken 15th Dec and the second pic is the one I posted on 7th Dec (for comparison).
This next pic was also taken on 15th December and looks to me to be a different species.
Help with identification appreciated.

| | | Re: Two Psyllids for identification The wing venation makes me think it's another Trioza species. Possibly Trioza urtica - but that's a bit of guess based on the general colouration.
PS I was referring to the second species - should have said that!

| | | Re: Two Psyllids for identification The outer edge of the wing is rather curved (much more than in remota) - a good feature for urticae. |

| | | Re: Two Psyllids for identification It's really nice to see some threads about Psyllids - takes me back a bit.
I did my PhD on Psyllids on Hawthorn trees but haven't really ever kept much up to date with the group so am very rusty.

| | | Re: Two Psyllids for identification Adam - Based on info provided on my earlier thread I'm pretty sure that they are both Psyllids.
Rob and Tristan - Thanks for your help on id - much appreciated.
I came across another Psyllid this afternoon at Stony Stratford Nature Reserve (Bucks). There appears to be a second, smaller set of wings visible through the outer wing? You can also see two redish dots near the wing tips. Here's a pic:

Bruce | They do have two pairs of wings. This one isn't a Trioza the forewing venation is completely different. In Trioza the three main veins arise from a common point, on this they don't so possibly a Psylla species?
I have a very dim recollection of certain parasites being carried as red eggs on the wings of Psyllids - will have to exercise the old grey matter on this one and get back to you if any memories stir further.

| | | Re: Two Psyllids for identification Thanks for the information Rob.
I'd sorta thought that they must have two pairs of wings as the psyllids Home Page website refers to forewing venation (not simply wing venation) - but very pleased to get your confirmation on that point.
