| | | Red dragonflies Hiya ...i know nothing about dragon flies yet....but what is most likely the smallish red dragon flies i saw flying around at Capel fleet ( rspb) in sheppey at the weekend? i had no chance of any pics with my little point and shoot but they were very red?

| | | Re: Red dragonflies If it was Dragonflyish it would be one of the Darters. If it was a Damselfly it would be either the Large Red or Small Red. |

| | | Re: Red dragonflies I should point out that both the male Common darter and ruddy darter are red, and unless you noticed the colour of the legs it could have been either. |

The colour of the upper surface of the front of the thorax should be different - brown on the Common Darter and red on the Ruddy Darter.
