Hi WAB'ers,
I saw this around July - I was taking photos of this instar green stinkbug, Palomena prasina, then noticed this black parasitic wasp appear from nowhere.  Parasitic wasp Vs. Stink bug
Suddenly P. prasina became a bucking bronco, tilting and lifting and after a second or two the fly left 
It was quite an interesting sight with the fly probably seeing the bug as a host. Incidentally could anyone give me a name for the fly if poss please?

looks more like a hymenopteran, but no idea what it is I'm afraid |

By fly I mean't wasp - I take it that would make it a hymenopteran?
That's fine, I wasn't really expecting an ID for it, just wanted to share an interesting photo primarily... |

Interesting action shot Jason - just think you're probably the first person ever to have photographed this brief interaction between these two species .

From the bugs reaction, I should think the wasp attempted to use it as a host. Is this possible given the bug was a nymph?? |

The nymphs a 3rd instar.
Its hard to make out any details on the wasp, possibly a braconid, there are a couple of similar looking ones. Did it definately parasise it? Theres a possibility it could of just landed on it. |
