Green bug on my kitchen ceiling

I have two questions:

1) what is it?
2) do I need to be frightened of it (i.e. will it sting or bite? Breed at a terrific rate of knots so I'm infested etc)

Looks like an Oak Bush-cricket. No need to be scared

Hi, it's a female (note long ovipositor at rear end) Oak Bush-cricket (not restricted to oak, but found on variety of shrubs/trees) + they are often attracted indoors by lights on at night . They are harmless to you + as they eat insects such as aphids are welcome in the garden.

I will allow it to stay! (Actually, it's heading slowly for the open kitchen window so maybe making the Great Escape all by itself)

We evicted three of these from the bedroom ceiling about 3 nights ago - they returned last night (or 3 very similar ones did) and have been evicted again today!
