| | | Any ideas on what this insect is? I saw this insect at the Great Eastern Pingo Trail (TL941966 - Stow Bedon, Thompson, Norfolk). I would be interested to know what it is - if anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated! |

I think it's a male. | Sure is a 4-spot Chaser- obviously not a recent photo, but good to remember those heady summer days of dragon watching! |

An active blue damselfly. Is that an Azure, Common Blue... I thought all damselflies had gone, leaving just (some) dragonflies and darters?? If a damselfly was still on the wing, if you could find out the species the British Dragonfly Society may be interested... the last Common Blue was still 'hanging on' on the 21st of October. That set a new record for Wiltshire I believe.

I think the photo was taken on the only day of summer I saw this year! |

Sometimes well into October, so this find is not totally unusual. Although once the hard frost appear they will vanish. Libellula quadrimaculata can be found from April right the way through to September on the wing, its not just an early species. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
