Looking for Stag Beetles

Hi,

Just thought i would give it a try, I have been looking to photograph a male Stag beetle for ages now and although i have had a few good leads on where to look i always come up empty.
Does anyone have a good location i may see them or get to take a few pics.
Any info would be appreciated.

Google it barney,there are location maps and websites for stag beetles but generally
they like old woodland with lots of dead wood, oak for preference

As Nightshade says..........Good luck mate, last one I saw was crossing the A 272 at cowfold and that was years ago. Did find a lesser stag beetle a few weeks back, under a reptile survey sheet, it was living with slow worms, common lizards and a grass snake
