Try making the photo file smaller at your end first before submitting it - most camera software or image packages will let you resize a photo by reducing the file size by xx%. Try reducing it by 50 % and see if that makes it small enough for the site to load.

Alternatively, try loading it as an observation on I-Spot (ispot.org) and see if we can identify it there.
