| | Salticidae spp which one? Hi all ,
I came accross this spider up in Scotland at Vane Farm RSPB site,
About 8mm body and head, found in longish rye grass, a good little jumper too, so I recon it's a male of the Salticidae spp but not sure which one,
I dont know if I'm right in discounting S.scenicus, does the little tuft of white behind the head give any clues.
Thanks,

| | Re: Salticidae spp which one? Hi Doghound, Hi Venger,
I am in agreement with you on Lycosidae, and Pardosa spp, I have checked in Collins field guide and Spinnenogeproject for the eye set, in the lycosa eye set the anterior lateral eyes are the same size, where in salticidae the outside anterior laterals are smaller in size than the inners.
The palps seem to be black indicating P.amenata, but my palp pic doesn't show either apophysis so I cannot determine whether the terminal apophysis is pointing inwards or outwards,
I will have to try and take better pics of the relevant bits , like venger said,
Thanks for your help, guys.

| | | Re: Salticidae spp which one? Think you might just have to settle for Pardosa sp Dunc, I can't get to species from these.
It could be P.pullata or P.amentata I couldn't tell you which. Tricky.
