| | | Re: Earwigs keeping warm? Strangely enough..... I have seen 'wiggys' huddled together like this too but never questioned it before, just accepted that this is what they do!
Your theory does make sense though. Insects need warmth to be active/survive.
Lovely photo, well done!!

The only critters that gives me the Hebe jeebies .
Still have nightmares of falling out of a tree as a kid while picking apples - they huddle up just like this between the apples and branches - then shower down on you when you pick the apples |

Found on in a drinking straw when I was about 4 years old - found it in so much as it pincered the end of my tongue when I sucked my drink up - owwies.
Fantastic pic though - well done |

| Are you sure? the cerci (pincers) on the tip of the abdomen carnt close enough to hurt you, they are there to put off predators, who think they are jaws, also they are used in courtship. |

| | | Re: Earwigs keeping warm? when your 4... and a "thing that isnt drink wait a minute let me get a closer look... OH MY GOD THAT THING TOUCHED MY TONGUE... EW EW EW EW"
you would be surprised at what it becomes later on in memory.... bit? maybe... pincered? unlikely but if you sucked it through a straw backwards.... im sure those tips would feel sharp... the tongue is sensetive... and thus the bite story is born...
either way... not pleasant...
