I thought this might be a shieldbug, maybe at a stage towards adulthood, but?
I saw two of these today, neither of which I could get close to - this is a big crop, sorry for quality.

Other is an ichneumon of some sort. |

| | | Re: Two for id please I agree, the top one is Ropalus subrufus. It is locally distributed in southern Britain - found on low vegetation in scrubby areas and woodland clearings where it is associated with many plants, particularly St John's wort. It overwinters as an adult, the new generation appearing in August.
Hopefully someone will ID the other soon.
