I thought this might be a shieldbug, maybe at a stage towards adulthood, but? 
I saw two of these today, neither of which I could get close to - this is a big crop, sorry for quality.

The top is a shieldbug relative, Ropalus subrufus, I believe.
Other is an ichneumon of some sort. |

I agree, the top one is Ropalus subrufus. It is locally distributed in southern Britain - found on low vegetation in scrubby areas and woodland clearings where it is associated with many plants, particularly St John's wort. It overwinters as an adult, the new generation appearing in August.
Hopefully someone will ID the other soon.

Ichneumon is very similar to Diphyus amatorius, although its rear legs are all yellow, Diphyus amatorius has a brown patch. |
