I've been chasing damselflies
I have had a great afternoon. I've been out with 3 entomologists spotting different damselflies. The icing on the cake was capturing (gently and temporarily) the scarce emerald damselfly. What a beauty. The site is protected so I can't say where, but I do feel honoured actually seeing them in their natural habitat. I'm hooked now and enjoyed every moment of it. I can understand Fourwings love of these wonderful creatures-damsels and dragonflies.
We also saw-four spotted chaser,small red eyed damselfly,common blue damselfly,blue tailed,emporer dragonfly and black-tailed skimmer.
I have posted a picture of the scarce emerald in the Gallery. Should be there once it's moderated. My other half took the pictures today whilst I had the net so I can't cheat and say it was me!! Julie
