Crane fly
Could someone identify the species ? WS about 40mm.

It is a female of either the second brood of Tipula oleracea which is under way or of Tipula paludosa. During the past week of so I have found only oleracea here in Kent.

Male oleracea and paludosa have slightly differently shaped claspers at the end of the abdomen. I don't bother with females.
