| | | Blue Hover Fly????? We have lots of little metallic blue hover-type flies in the garden this afternoon.
We have never seen anything like them before. They are about 1cm in length with dark metallic blue bodies and back wings and dark burgundy/purple eyes (like a miniature bluebottle). They can stay almost completely static in the air.
What are they, and why would I have not seen them before?
Any ideas?
