| | | Help please, tiny specs/bugs in house Hi there, im really hoping someone can help me. Im no bug enthusiast or anything, i just need some help.
About a month ago we had probs for 2 weeks with black and yellow stripped small caterpillar type things, whatever they were they seemed to shed at least one layer os skin. I assume as we kept finiding black and yellow skins on kitchen floor.....i assumed they were turning into moths. these seem to have disappeared about 2 weeks ago.
well, 2 weeks a go we was using our camcorder and noticed a bug crawl across the screen. it was actually under the lense inside the camcorder...there was about 5 of them in there. When we got home we looked at the area where the camcorder was stored (A cheap wooden computer desk bought from argos a few years back). anyways we noticed quite a few of them walking around.....got the hoover out a hoovered every single bit of the desk. but they keep coming back. am finding about 4 or 5 a day roughly. they seemed to be mostly appear on the printer that was in the desk so i ripped it out, put it in a bin bag, tied the end so nothing could get out then moved it across the room. then this past saturday i counted about 20 of these things on a set of wooden draws next to where i put the bin bagged printer. so anyways checked every item in the draws hoovered the items then took the draws out of the house.
the things have only appeared in one other place (or noticed them in one other place, ive been looking very closely.) i found 2........on seperate days on my lightsaber........on my wooden shelving which holds my starwars collection.
ok. these thing are very tiny. bit more than a dot. they seem to be white or creamy coloured and are easier to be seen when shining a car key torch at a low level, i think there tiny shadow helps me to see them. At first i assumed they where mites of some type but have not seen any mites similar in colour when looking at help websites. and most sites seem to say they would be too small to see anyway. I have found 3 woodlice over the last 3 days.....2 in the bathroom and one in the living room (not near the affected areas). we live in a groundfloor 1 bedroom flat
im not sure if there is anymore info i can give.......im hoping someone can help me at least find out what they could be. i have held off from using bug sprays so far, in the hope they would somehow dissappear.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you. |

| | | Re: Help please, tiny specs/bugs in house They sound like some form of Thrips (thunder fly) to me - if you google Thysanoptera the middle picture from a German site may match your bugs.

| | | Re: Help please, tiny specs/bugs in house I think they'll be some sort of mite. I had a mini-infestation a few years ago. I put it down to my insect collection not being sufficiently protected, but I dont really know. I just used to squash them and eventually they disappeared but they used to get into my microscope eye-piece, very annoying. |

| | | Re: Help please, tiny specs/bugs in house Hello again.........well the binoculars was a silly idea, no chance of seeing them.......none in the usual place today......but another was on my lightsaber.
as for size i would say less than a mm easy. they really are tiny. hard to see unless in a dark area with a light shining on them from a low angle.
thanks for the help so far people. |
