| | | Re: Woodlice Yes certainly a youngster, not an adult of one of the smaller species anyway. I'm 98% sure it's the same species as the foreground one  The little ones of Oniscus asellus are much more "granulated" than the bigger ones although I suspect we may also be looking at a little bit of stacking/sharpening or other digital enhancement artefacts here - partially?
Because of the granulation and the lack of development in the antennae etc it's quite hard to tell these little ones apart from the common rough woodlouse ( Porcellio scaber) and some others, such as Trachelipus. The general habitus, shape of the head and most of all colouration - especially of the epimera of segment 7 - make me quite confident it'll be Oniscus asellus however. The remaining 2% doubt could be lifted with a dorsal shot, especially of the head
Great shot though and indeed an amazing DOF
