Can anyone tell me precisely what these tiny tiny little black things are ??? In Essex we called them thunder bugs but they too small to really see what they are. Little black dots except they are longer than wide.
BUT MY GOD THEY IRRITATE LIKE CRAZY !!!!!!!! |

BUT MY GOD THEY IRRITATE LIKE CRAZY !!!!!!!! | I think they are commonly called Thrips as well (Order Thysanoptera). They have sort of fringed wings and are adept at getting anywhere. They get into picture frames, and set off smoke alarms. They ain't half itchy. |

Yes, Thunder-flies are Thrips. There are lots of species, and the different species feed on different plants. The ones that you are getting now are likely off the wheat or other cereal that is being harvested now.
