| | | queen wasp ? Bee ? Hi guys, haven't been on for a while as v busy. This rather large thing landed in my garden earlier near the pond and has been back and fore since. First thought was hornet when ran from it, however, from photo think it's maybe a queen something ? Any idea pls ?

Isn't it bit big for hoverfly ? Was over an inch long and very wide ?

| | | Re: queen wasp ? Bee ? I've just been through the whole collection of european hoverflies online and I can't say I'm convinced this is my insect  Keeping in mind this was nearly the length and width of my thumb are we sure there's no other options ?

I think they do bite.  Are you allergic to any bite or just stings..
