3. POSSIBLY a deer fly, going by the eyes.

| | | Re: Fly IDs I really must find a better reference work, Chinery implies that all tephritidae have patterned wings. He calls them 'Picture Wing' files, is this incorrect?
I don't see a pattern in my photograph, though several thistles in the field have hard galls in the stems, which seems to point to a tephritidae. |
