Sawfly, I think.
Not good quality shots but three of the better ones I took in the hope of capturing the salient points to enable me to ID it to genus using my recently purchased AIDGAP / FSC key for British sawflies.

I cannot key it out and now even wonder if this is a sawfly!



Any ideas welcomed please.

Nope, it's a Sciarid, S.hemerobioides
