can anyone identify this insect please??
im in the UK!
Ive just found a black mosquito looking thing with red thighs!!
its about 15mm long it has the black dot on the wings like a mosquito!! the blackness of an ant and bright red legs its antenni are 10mm long and has 2 strand like things coming out of its backside and one from underneath that are quite stiff oh and its definately not a crane fly!!

Sounds like it could be some sort of Wood Wasp to me, best to have a look at some of the images in the Gallery to see if any match your insect.

Possibly a mayfly.
