| | | What A Monster!!!!
Seeing this Horse-fly - Tabanus sudeticus really took be by suprise. I thought I had a good Idea on how big flies grow, but this was huge. It's getting on for Hornet proportions. It had the same effect on me as when I spotted my first Great Green Bush Cricket, you see them in books but that doesn't prepare you for seeing them for real. I was wondering if there is a bigger fly in Britain.

Ian | That's a great way of measuring size IMO. They are huge!
Is the cricket mostly antennae? What's he eat and where is he found?
Nice one mate. |

| | | Re: What A Monster!!!! Well as I mentioned on another thread I'm not keen on these at all and will run a mile from them. Recently on a walk they were everywhere so I had to put hood up, sleeves down and run as fast as I could to escape. Other half thought it was hilarious but I got the last laugh when he was bitten a week later whilst waiting for me to come out of the ladies . I never heard the last of it, you know what men are like with pain . There's no way they're having me for supper .
