Is this Troilus luridus?



He was on some Oak leaves

I think its the Forest or Red-legged Shield-bug Pentatoma rufipes. The scutellum is orange and the legs are reddish, whereas in Troilus luridus the legs are dark and the scutellum is not distinctly coloured.

I also think, but have not checked, that its a bit early for adult T. luridus.

Yes I had a look in the Gallery and he does look like Pentatoma rufipes.

This is one of the most distinctive of all the British Shieldbugs. It is The Forest Shieldbug. P.rufipes

A common species over most of the British Isles. There is very little variation except in the colour of the spot on the scutellum, which can be red, pink, orange or white.
