High Brown Fritilary

Hi everyone saw these for the first time yesterday I'm still on cloud nine
We travelled down to Devon, Heddons Mouth to see them
the weather was awful though but we did get an hour of sun first thing yesterday which was long enough to see them
We saw a Silver washed too and lots of ringlets as well at Heddons Mouth as marbled whites at Basingstoke on the way down so that was 4 butterflies we've never seen before in 3 days

Well done Pete, thats another species on my list for this year as well, although its looking like I may not get the chance to venture far enough south this year now!!

I know exactly how you feel Pete. Recently spotted my first High Browns at Dunsford south Dartmoor. I've uploaded some shots to the Gallery.

I've been lucky this year with the butties although the weather always seems to be against us
