i am attempting to ID all my macro shots and found this wonderful forum
can anyone suggest a resource where i can look up pictures og uk bugs ? either on the net or a good book
below is my first id request...
any ideas what this is? |

Nice picture of a fly - so I've not much idea but someone will come along and help you!
Good thing is to identify what sort of insect you have (beetle, moth, fly, true bug &c) then have a search through the Gallery or forum here.
But, as I say, someone will be along soon to point you in the proper direction. Quote:

| | | Re: Bug ID's Going by the white face and orange body I would suggest having a look at Sicus. Possibly Sicus ferrugineus but the white on the face looks a bit narrow.
I've got a similar image which I'm trying to sort out and I'm not quite certain yet.
An expert on these flies will probably be here soon. I find it's a bit like waiting for a bus. You wait hours for an expert then 2 will come along together!
In the meanwhile, check Sicus in the Gallery. I'm usually wrong, but don't let that put you off.
