| | | Broad Bodied Chaser plus a couple of others I took this picture the other day, being relatively new to dragonflies etc I'd never knowingly seen anything like this before
I'm not altogether certain what this is - is it a Four Spot?
i saw these 2 at the same location today. There were quite a few of them but were a lot smaller than the first one I've posted, also the body was a lot bluer. I also noticed that they appeared to fold their wings forward when at rest - is that normal? |

Also may I ask whats the antehumeral stripe?
Just to be clear (is so hard to be on forums sometimes) these are question for future reference rather than questioning your IDs |

| | | Re: Broad Bodied Chaser plus a couple of others Number 3 is a keeled skimmer. Antehumeral stripes are the prominent white stripes evident on the thorax in pic' 3.

| | | Re: Broad Bodied Chaser plus a couple of others Hi Ukwildlifeo, I have'nt heard of the black tip not being there on the Black tailed skimmer, but your probably right, the main thing that pointed to it being a Keeled skimmer was the white Antehumeral stripes.
Here's an example of the Antehumeral stripe on a Southern hawker I took last August.
Hope this clears it up for you.
