Whilst eating lunch in the sand dunes at Birkdale onthe Sefton Coast, Merseyside there were a couple of different Beetle species out and about.
Any help with ID appreciated 
The pic of the first species isn't particularly good I'm afraid, it was on a mission quickly walking across the sand. 
There were about half a dozen of the second species about. One pair started mating, the female ended up with her head in the sand. What was going on there?

The chafer is, I think, Anomala dubia - The Coleopterist - Photo gallery - Anomala dubia
Perhaps she was geting on the with the business of digging a hole to lay eggs in .....  |

Hi
I think the weevil is Otiorhynchus atroapterus. It is a sand dune specialist.

Thanks Jon for the ID, I've just read that the Black Marram Weevil Otiorhynchus atroapterus has its tibiae flattened for digging in the sand. Neat
