Hi saw one of these yesterday and scared the living daylights out of me as it was huge- in fact about 3 inches long. I remebert seeing them as a child but never that long.I wonder if its more of an exotic variety, maybe from India or somewhere? |

The males are supposed to reach 7.5 cm (nearly 3 inches). I'd love to see one - maybe my log pile will eventually come up trumps. |

If you live in or near Whitstable in Kent, they have a very good population of Stag beetles there, I am reliable informed!

Found this wee beastie last Wednesday.It gripped so hard in my camera bag that I had to wait for it to come out. I was moving it off a pathway so that it didn't get stepped on.
They're wonderful creatures and need all the help and protection possible.

It is a very good year for them in these parts , it only seems to be males that are seen though. It is probably becuse they get about more hunting the females ?? |

I was at a garden party in Colchester-Essex last night when i saw a male stag beetle fly onto a fence next to where i was standing. First one i've seen in about 25 years |
