| | | What is this please? I've just found this insect in my garden, I'm assuming that it's from the moth or butterfly family but I've never seen anything like it. Could someone tell me what it is please.
The body is around 1 1/2" and from wing tip to wing tip it's around 2".
I am trying to get a better photograph but I'm not having much luck.

| | | Re: What is this please? It's actually the similar Elephant Hawkmoth, it differs from the Small Elephant Hawkmoth in having a different wing shape and different patterns of pink and orange on the wing. It's definetely one of our most spectacular moths!

| | | Re: What is this please? Yes I agree Elephant Hawkmoth - Deilephila elpenor
I had one that landed on a painting on my wall once.Frightened me to death I had never seen such a large moth before let alone in my bedroom.I hate moths in my bedroom they always bomb me as I read in bed and they constantly flap around the light.Used to be scared of moths before taking up photographing wildlife>now when I see them I run for the camera Mind you I still hate them flapping around me | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
