| | | Unidentified Chinese? Beetle Hi - Can anyone shed any light on this beetle please. It was found in a box of toys from China - a chinese employee says she recalls 'playing' with these when a girl - they were called Qu-Qu (pronounced chew-chew). They were used as fighting beetles and got the name from being goaded with qu-qu grass to make them angry.
Its body is about 30mm, the ovipositor? about 15mm and the antennae about 45mm long - an idea of the scale can be seen - the print you can make out in the picture is Arial 11 point size.
Can anyone help? |

| | | Re: Unidentified Chinese? Beetle It is a cricket of some sort. Somewhere I have a book which lists the Chinese names of various crickets. I will try and dig it out when I get home from work |
