Nothing was going to disturb that butterfly, it was set in for the night. |

| | | Re: A good year for Holly Blues? It certainly seems to have been an exceptionally good season for Holly Blue in the London area, though numbers seemed to have tailed off this week. A couple of times I've even seen them in the high street away from any plants, which I don't recall before! |

I have actually looked at ivy in various parts of the country (for different reason than holly blue) over the last few days and thought that it looked a bit scraggy. Still, if it were good last summer (seems likely) then that would have been good for that generation.
Holly doesn't really have 'bad' years, does it but I suspect that the late leafing of canopy trees this spring may have been helpful for butterflies - juicy holly and little other foliage getting in the way? |
