| | | Dragon fly. Broad bodied? I managed to get close enough to this chap today. I am presuming he's a Broad-bodied chaser Libellula depressa male. I see in the Gallery they come in different flavours. Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks

| | | Re: Dragon fly. Broad bodied? Yes Sticky, its a male Broad-bodied chaser.
He is quite a new specimen as well, if you look at his abdomen he is still showing some general yellow colouration, this will go when he is mature.
They are a fantastic Dragonfly to watch and can be very easy to approach and photograph.
I see by your signature that you are a fellow Saw Doctors fan - a great live band. |

thanks inadvance..... | Yep, the blue (called pruinescence) appears as the insect matures. You can see the same effect on both the skimmers and on emerald damselflies. |
