Hi people - any ideas on these three?

The first may be a Carabid, the second a shieldbug and an aphid - what is the plant? and the third a female scorpion fly. I'll try and get more specific later.

no. 3 is, I think, a Scorpion Fly - Panorpa communis

Hi Imaginos .... they were all snapped on stinging nettles ....

The first is the beetle Isomira murina; the second looks like the shieldbug Elasmucha grisea and the third is a species of Scorpion fly Panorpa - could be P. communis or P. germanica. It is a female and these can only be identified by detailed examination of the ovipositor.

The aphid with the shieldbug is Microlophium carnosum, common on nettles.

I was just trying to sort out a photo I have. It has a Female Scorpion Fly Panorpa - Communis by the looks of things.

Assuming this page below is correct, it has some interesting info:

The Scorpion Fly is supposed to be a scavenger. The one in my photo seems to have other ideas.

Now all I have to do is work out what the other fly is.

The fly is some sort of Anthomyiidae, it is heavily infested with fungus and was probably already dead when the Panorpa sp. found it
