| | | Wasp nest? Found an acorn-shaped construction yesterday in my daughter's Wendy house. It's about 3.5cm high and pale grey. Texture like the inside of an eggbox. |

| | | Re: Wasp nest? Sounds like it's a queen nest of a social wasp - like Vespula gemanica. Easy to deal with at this time of year should you wish to. When the queen is absent, it is safe to remove it. Do not wait until there is a brood of workers around! |

The nest is no more, I'm afraid. It was such a beautiful little thing - such a shame to remove it. Had it been almost anywhere except the Wendy house, I'd have left it in place.
