could this be a scarce blue-tailed damselfly?

Having had a quick look in a book it looks more like the normal Blue-tailed Damselfly. The Scarce seems to have the blue tail nearer the tip.

yeah i was kinda going on the green bits by its head :|
they are all so hard to distinguish!!!
but i looked again and i think you are right

I think its an immature Male blue tailed. These are described as having greenish thorax,inlcuding narrow antehumerals, with S8 blue. Just about fits your image.
