| | | Confirmation of damselfly ID.
Could someone just have a look and confirm the ID on these Damsels please.
Top one: Large Red Damselfly
Lower one: Banded Damoiselle Female...... (seen alongside a canal not running water).
Thanks in anticipation |

| | | Re: Confirmation of damselfly ID. First one are large Reds, the second one is a Beautiful Demoiselle - Calopteryx virgo. Both of them are excellent shots. |

| | | Re: Confirmation of damselfly ID. Thank you Glsammy yes I was going with Beautiful Damoiselle at first but saw it next to canal rather than the normal fast flowing river so i was teetering between the two species of Damoiselle. I was going to put them on the Gallery but thought they were not quite up to the standard required though! |

They should certainly be in the main Gallery.
On the id, the wings are the main point. Banded are not that lovely coppery brown.

| | | Re: Confirmation of damselfly ID. OK......I will try...... Finding the subjects and then learning how to use the equipment and associated technology is the easy bit. Jumping through all those hoops and getting all those little dots and dashes in the right place to get them on to the Gallery is far more difficult for me. |

| | | Re: Confirmation of damselfly ID. A more reliable way of ID is the position, shape and size of the false pterostigma on the tip of its wing (the small white blob). Its further way from the tip and larger and more elongate on the beutiful Demoiselle. |

1) Large Red Damselfly - Pyrrhosoma nymphula
2) Beautiful Demoiselle - Calopteryx virgo.
Just copy and paste in the title field.
When your at the second screen, copy the info into the keyword field and remove the dash.
