What's harder than a Queen Wasp? I noticed a wasp buzzing in my garden, so i went to investigate, and found this Queen Wasp in a fight to the death with some Black Ants, i dont know who started it, but i know who`s going to finish it  ...  |

The Ants won of course, i think it was trying to build a nest near there`s, and they got a little upset, anyway the Ants won hands down.
I too thought the Wasp would fly off, but no, it just fought to the death ... |

Interesting action shot - so how long did the queen manage to hold out?
Lot of queen wasps around just now. I've had to put out three in the last few days. Unfortunately I had to kill one as my dog was trying to catch it and I was concerned that she might try and swallow it. I managed to catch the other two using a pint glass and card.

How long did it last ?, well i took a few shots of the action, and then walked into town for some shopping, which took about an hour or two, and they were still at it when i returned, but the Wasp died shortly after, putting up a brave fight against the army. It shouldent try a land grab, should it ... |

very interesting. I also would have thought the wasp would simply fly off. I've also noticed lots of queen wasps about recently.

Maybe the wasp was ill or in a weakened state which allowed the ants to win.
