| | | Looks like some sort of cricket but its beaten me. Yesterday, at the bottom of my garden, S. Devon. Small, about 3/8 inch head to tail. Just sitting there soaking up the sun. But anybody got any ideas on ID please. |

When I moved here, about 20 years ago, there were a lot of crickets and grasshoppers around. During late summer evenings their 'singing' was deafening but over the past 10 years I have rarely heard any. Occasionally I used to see a darkish brown cricket, but not for several years now.
A few Speckled Bush Crickets live here, especially in the vegetable patch, but nothing else. So, let's hope they might return; it would be nice to hear their chorus again. |
